In 2012, we are excited to celebrate the 33rd year of presenting FREE Music in the park Summer Concert Series at Sylvester Park in the heart of downtown Olympia. This is the most visible activity of all the Olympia Downtown Association’s events. This concert series attracts over 13,000 people annually.
The award winning performances began in 1979 featuring local, regional and national talents. It attracts visitors from surrounding areas including Thurston, Mason, Grays Harbor, Pierce and King counties. In 1991, the Olympia Downtown Association (ODA) accepted the production responsibilities for the Music in the Park concert series and continues those duties to this day with great pride.
The ODA’s mission is to preserve, promote and enhance downtown Olympia. In keeping with the mission the non-profit organization began a partnership in 2000 with the Port of Olympia offering the Port Plaza as a place for one of the nine concert series. The concert at the Port Plaza is always held on a Friday night from 7:00 – 8:30 pm.
