General Information

Parking

There is no on-site parking. We strongly encourage you to use one of the various transportation alternatives, e.g., taxi, bicycle, bus, the free DASH shuttle or walking.

Transportation

Concert attendees can get to downtown Olympia on the bus and avoid the driving by traveling one of the many bus routes Intercity Transit  operates daily and into the evening. And, come early to shop in downtown and ride the DASH shuttle for free! For more information about public transit call Intercity Transit’s customer service department at 360-786-1881, weekdays 6:30 am – 7 pm and weekends 9 am – 7 pm or visit www.intercitytransit.com

Seating

The venue is a state park so bring your own lawn chair or blanket. All shows are FREE general admission so come early for best seating location.

Restrooms

There are no public restrooms at Sylvester State Park (or the Port Plaza). Public restrooms are located two blocks west next to Capital Lake in Heritage Park, the corner of Legion Way & Water Street.

If it Rains

If it rains the concert still goes on!!

A message will be posted no later than 1:00 p.m. the day of the show on the home page of this website, plus signs will be posted at Sylvester State Park’s entry points. You can also check our local radio stations (KGY 1240 AM, MIXX96.1 FM, ROXY 94.5FM) or call our office at 360-357-8948.
IF this situation occurs, the concert will be temporarily relocated to the Washington Center for the Performing Arts just 1/2 block away from Sylvester State Park. When visiting their website for directions scroll down to the bottom of their home page and click on directions.
Sylvester State Park and the Port Plaza offer no protection from the outdoor elements, so dress for the weather and… bring your umbrella (for sunshine too)! To check Olympia’s 10-day weather forecast click www.weather.com and then click on the 10-day tab.

Garbage

Please keep Sylvester State Park (and the Port Plaza) clean! Take a moment and pickup your garbage and help with the cleanup. Drop all garbage in the nearest trash receptacle. If cans are full, place your garbage in the green dumpsters located on the North walkways in Sylvester State Park. THANK YOU!

Alcohol

Consumption of  alcoholic beverages shall not be permitted at Sylvester State Park so PLEASE do not bring any.

Merchandise

Support Music in the Park by purchasing a commemorative button for $2 or a high quality cotton T-Shirt for $12. Merchandise is available at the event tent during each concert or come visit the Olympia Downtown Association’s office located at 116 5th Avenue SE, Ste F, Olympia WA 98501. VISA/Mastercard/Discover are accepted.
